What is Your Spiritual Purpose?

Have you ever wondered why you are here? Not the seat you sit in now or the room you call home, but why are you here in this life? Why were you born as you were and not as someone bigger, better, prettier and stronger than you are now? What could you possibly offer others, let alone yourself?

The answer is Spiritual Purpose. You have reasons to be here that no one else could possibly have or even imagine. Spiritual Purpose places you in unique circumstances and with individual choices for your own growth path. You alone choose to follow your purpose. You alone direct your life to reflect your highest good or your greatest roadblocks. You alone choose to make your own journey.

Spiritual purpose is simply found a quiet place. Listen closely to what life tells you, not your head talking. Spirit talks through your heart in a gentle voice. Listening to the quiet voice is easy, but who really has time for that? Most of us wait until we desperately need direction before we begin to notice. Even then, we probably don’t listen. If you are like most people, you wait until you get the spiritual kick-in-the-head before even noticing a possible connection to your purpose. You think it is not your fault. The kick came to you; you didn’t run into it, you didn’t deserve it; you didn’t ask for it… you had nothing to do with it! Or did you...?

Most of us run through life in a constant state of denial… we deny we are actually an active participant in it. “How dare you kick me! I didn’t do anything to deserve that!” Precisely! It’s time for you to get up and do something… now! The time is now to acknowledge the purpose behind the kick. What else do you need to stop and notice? Are you running your life so hard that you don’t have time to notice? Are you trying so hard to control your life that it becomes a struggle? Did the kick make you stop and think?

You are not a victim. You are receiving a great opportunity to transcend your circumstances! Move from surviving to thriving. Take an opportunity to open your eyes, ears, heart, hands, whatever you can and evaluate where your life is now. Think about how you got there. Just stop for a moment.

While you're stopped, if even for a moment, take a deep breath and listen to the guiding voice of understanding. It resembles a desire, a dream, a direction and a heartfelt point of view. Do you hear it? What does it say?

Before you hear the words, you must hear the silence. Listen closely because words are not always clear. Sometimes they come in on the sound of a gentle breeze or a child’s laughter. Other times they arrive in a headline or a direct request. Your purpose may come to you in bite size pieces, small enough to taste the process, or it may come in like a bolt of lightening, and stop you in your tracks… and stop you it will!

Many people go through life completely unaware that they even have a purpose. They follow blindly all the rules, directions and beliefs of others. They have a sense of un-fulfillment and accept it as a part of growing older. They give in and give up. Eventually they die, leaving no direction for others to learn from; their purpose unfilled.

Others have a sense of un-fulfillment and ask questions why. These people know more to life exists than their current experience and search for ways to make more out of life. They possess desires to go out and journey to places unknown. Living on purpose is completely up to them.

Purpose exists in every life. By questioning where you have been, where you are going, and why... you are seeking to discover your purpose. Every question leads to an answer, even if it's another question. Each time you ask, you are connecting with your source and opening lines of communication. With open communication you may listen and understand the challenges in your life.

Purpose is about the choices, experiences, knowing and remembering your greatness. We are here for the journey, not the end result. Understanding your spiritual purpose is about living your life for your greatest spiritual good and knowing why. The choice is up to you now.
